Ingredients

Scale

Beef Mixture

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • 1/2 cup chopped bell peppers

Assembly

  • Fresh basil leaves (about 20 leaves)
  • Rice paper wrappers (about 10 sheets)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the lean ground beef, stirring often to crumble, until it starts to brown. Add soy sauce and hoisin sauce, and continue cooking until the beef is fully cooked and the sauces are well incorporated.
  2. Add Vegetables: Add the shredded carrots and chopped bell peppers to the beef mixture. Stir and cook for another 3-5 minutes until the vegetables are tender but still retain some crunch.
  3. Soften Rice Paper: Fill a shallow dish or large bowl with warm water. Dip one rice paper wrapper into the water for about 10-15 seconds until it becomes soft and pliable, then carefully remove and place on a clean surface.
  4. Assemble the Rolls: Place a few fresh basil leaves on the softened rice paper, add 2-3 tablespoons of the beef and vegetable mixture on top of the basil. Fold in the sides of the rice paper, then roll it tightly from the bottom to form a neat roll.
  5. Serve: Arrange the rolls on a plate and serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce, such as sweet chili or peanut sauce.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground chicken or turkey for a lighter option.
  • Make sure not to over-soak the rice paper to prevent tearing.
  • Serve with fresh herbs such as mint or cilantro for extra flavor.
  • These rolls are best enjoyed fresh but can be covered and refrigerated for a few hours.
