Ingredients

Scale

Sandwich Ingredients

  • 48 Ritz crackers (about 2 sleeves)
  • 12 slices deli ham, cut into quarters
  • 6 slices cheddar or Swiss cheese, cut into quarters

Glaze Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • ½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon poppy seeds (optional)
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon honey or brown sugar (optional, for a sweet glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  2. Assemble the sandwiches: Lay half of the Ritz crackers on the prepared baking sheet with the salted side facing down. Top each cracker with a quarter slice of deli ham and a piece of cheddar or Swiss cheese. Finish by placing another cracker on top with the salted side facing up to create mini sandwich stacks.
  3. Mix the glaze: In a small bowl, combine the melted unsalted butter, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, poppy seeds (if using), garlic powder, and honey or brown sugar (if you like a sweeter glaze). Stir well to ensure all ingredients are thoroughly combined.
  4. Brush and bake: Generously brush the tops of each assembled cracker sandwich with the prepared butter mixture. Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 7 to 9 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the tops of the sandwiches are golden brown.
  5. Serve warm: Remove from the oven and let the sandwiches cool for 2 to 3 minutes before serving. These are best enjoyed warm and make a fantastic appetizer or party snack.

Notes

  • You can substitute the ham with turkey or roast beef for variety.
  • Use your favorite cheese like mozzarella or pepper jack for a different flavor profile.
  • Omitting the honey or brown sugar will result in a less sweet glaze, perfect for savory preferences.
  • The poppy seeds are optional but add a nice crunch and visual appeal.
  • These sandwiches are best served fresh out of the oven but can be reheated briefly in the oven for optimal texture.
  • For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free crackers in place of Ritz crackers.
