Ingredients

Scale

For the Sandwich Bake

  • 2 cans (8 oz each) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 8 oz sliced deli ham
  • 8 oz sliced salami or pepperoni
  • 10 oz shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 4 oz sliced provolone cheese
  • 1 cup marinara sauce

For the Topping

  • 3 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and prepare baking dish: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish thoroughly or line it with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  2. Prepare the dough base: Unroll both cans of crescent roll dough and press the seams together on a lightly floured surface to create one large sheet. Press this dough evenly into the prepared baking dish, trimming any excess to fit perfectly.
  3. Layer the fillings: Spoon and spread half a cup of marinara sauce evenly over the crescent dough base. Arrange the sliced ham and salami (or pepperoni) over the sauce, then layer the provolone slices. Sprinkle with garlic powder and Italian seasoning for added flavor, followed by half of the shredded mozzarella cheese.
  4. Add second layer and top: Optionally, spread the remaining marinara sauce over the layer of cheese and meats. Top this with the remaining mozzarella cheese. Fold any overhanging dough edges over the filling to partially seal the sandwich bake. Brush the entire top with melted butter and sprinkle evenly with grated Parmesan cheese.
  5. Bake and finish: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly. Remove from oven and let it rest for 5–10 minutes. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley, slice, and serve warm for best flavor.

Notes

  • You can substitute the salami or pepperoni with other cured meats like chorizo or turkey pepperoni for different flavors.
  • For a spicier kick, add crushed red pepper flakes along with the Italian seasoning.
  • To make it gluten-free, use gluten-free crescent roll dough if available.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven or microwave.
  • For a vegetarian version, replace meats with roasted vegetables like bell peppers, mushrooms, and spinach.
