Crispy and flavorful Air Fryer Rice Paper Chips offer a quick and easy snack with customizable seasoning options including basic salt and pepper, everything bagel, or spicy chili. These chips are light, crunchy, and perfect for dipping or enjoying on their own.

Ingredients

Scale

For Basic Chips:

  • 68 rice paper sheets (spring roll wrappers)
  • Warm water for soaking
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

For Everything Bagel Version:

  • 68 rice paper sheets
  • Warm water for soaking
  • 2 tablespoons everything bagel seasoning
  • Pinch of garlic powder

For Spicy Chili Version:

  • 68 rice paper sheets
  • Warm water for soaking
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Rice Paper: Fill a shallow dish with warm water. Soak each rice paper sheet for 15–30 seconds, just until pliable but not soggy. Lay the sheets on a clean towel and gently pat dry to remove excess moisture.
  2. Season: While the rice paper is still slightly damp, evenly sprinkle your chosen seasoning over the surface. Gently press the seasoning into the paper with clean hands to help it adhere. Let the seasoned sheets rest for 1–2 minutes to set the flavors.
  3. Air Fry: Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C). Place the rice paper sheets in a single layer inside the basket; some slight overlap is acceptable but avoid stacking. Air fry for 4–6 minutes or until the edges turn golden brown and the chips become crisp. Remove the chips and cool them on a wire rack for about 30 seconds to maintain their crunch.
  4. Serve: Break the chips into bite-sized pieces and serve immediately to enjoy their best crunch. Store any leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days to keep them fresh.

Notes

  • Do not soak rice paper for too long to avoid sogginess and difficulty crisping.
  • Apply seasoning while the rice paper is still damp to ensure it sticks well.
  • Air fryer temperatures and times may vary slightly depending on the model; watch closely to prevent burning.
  • Store chips in an airtight container at room temperature to maintain crispness.
  • These chips are gluten-free and work well as a light snack or appetizer with dips.
